Investing your life

Hello there, you! You ever been caught up in the busyness of life and missed out on some of the things you REALLY wanted to do? For example, getting SOOO caught up in going to work, running errands, and planning your social life that you completely miss the beauty of the setting sun?  Or maybe you're a student...so busy with classes, homework, projects, extracurricular activities, spending time with friends, trying to find time for facebook, e-mail, and calling home/family? SOOO busy in fact that you miss out on having a meaningful conversation with your next-door neighbor? Or forget to even thank God that He is allowing you to breathe and do all these things.

Well, whatever your life is like - please do not miss out on the simple things in life that have been around since God declared for the last time on the 6th day that something was GOOD.  Enjoy the LIFE that God has blessed you with and share your life with others. Please, please, please, by all means, INVEST your life.  Invest it in ways that bring honor and glory to God.  How to invest your life is easier than you mighta thunk.

Some ideas:
1) If you like to cook or bake:  consider organizing a dinner for people in need or at a homeless shelter. Or contact a local hospital about bringing baked goods to the residents.  This could be especially fun at a children's hospital!  Think of the happiness on the people's faces when they see that someone thought so much of them to do this - just like God loving us so much that He sent His Son.

2) If you like to clean:  volunteer your time to clean house for a busy working mom or dad, or an elderly person you know once a week.

3) Get involved with a youth/young adult ministry serving as a discipler/teacher/mentor to someone.  Invest your time with them and be intentional about modeling the Christian life for them (how a Christian oughta behave: see Romans 12).

4) If you like to write: Write thoughtful articles, notes, letters, or WHATEVER to encourage people, brighten their days, and share the love of Christ with them.

5) Serve as a missionary (wink wink) overseas, across the country, or in YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, proclaiming the fame of His beautiful Name and living it out in front of the people you serve.

How can you INVEST your life? Life, how can I invest thee? Let me count the ways...

Til next time,
U.M.
