I'm so glad that Jesus is my sure thing; that my salvation lies in Him and Him alone.  He paid the penalty for my sins once and for all.  Because of Him (!!!), I have the opportunity to have life everlasting with Him in heaven forever by placing for faith in Him and living for Him.  GLORY!

Happy Black History Month!!! Today is the last day :(

Shane and Shane.  All those guys.  What a powerful duo.  My high school bestie introduced me to this group around our sophomore year in college.  What a pleasure to "meet them!"  Check out "Our God is Greater." This is their version of this hit Christian song.

His mercy!!!!!!

insidetheshrink-dailygrace.blogspot.com

You ever worked with teenagers who are 14-15 years old?  They can be challenging!  If not, picture this:  a group of about 15 teenagers aged 14-15 watching a documentary.  There were music video clips weaved into the story to show how slang is popularized, and even globalized, through music.  A controversial figure emerged and all of a sudden the group of teens found themselves in a debate about celebrities and religion.  For the life of me, I could NOT get the group to finish the film.  I told them to lower their voices...they would not.  I said to put their electronic devices away...they refused.  They continued their debate and used a computer to look up information to back up what they were saying. In the times that I've worked with them, they have been the loudest, rudest group I've seen in a long time!  I could feel my flesh rising as I wanted to give them a piece of my mind in an effort to demand their respect and full attention.  As I sat down to gather myself, the Holy Spirit reminded me that the rebelliousness exhibited by the group is exactly how I act at times...but the Lord's mercy!!!!

Batgirl and Robin

monoclebunny.deviantart.com
One of my favorite relatives is AJ.  The boy is a NUT.  He's also my sidekick.  We attend all of the family functions together (whether we ride together or meet there).  We grew up together.  The picture above (shout out to monoclebunny!) accurately depicts AJ and I growing up.  He's 3 1/2 years younger than I.  It has been interesting watching him grow up (I know I'm not that much older but ya know!).  I've been reflecting on our relationship and all of the shared memories we have...priceless.  I have been trying to appreciate all of the people that God has placed in my life, and I thank Him for them!  What people in your life do you appreciate?  Think about it.  Then give them a call and tell them how much you value them.  I dare you! :)

Easily offended?

cartoonstock.com

Chile....I am so easily offended! It's terrible.  I read a devotional last week that was pretty helpful.  It pointed out what Scripture has to say about this and even had a nifty lil' prayer at the end! If you're usually easily offended, check it out here.  Let's overlook the offenses of others and bring glory to God!

Waiting and Dating Review

familychristian.com

Waiting and Dating by Myles Munroe.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This book was REALLY helpful to me.  Take a look at the chapter titles:  Preparing to Date, Friendship-Building:  The Purpose of Dating, Myths of Mate-Finding, Discerning the Right Life Partner, Engagement:  Preparing to Marry, and Engagement:  Redeeming the Time.
I wasn’t expecting the book to give so much information about working on yourself and growing in your relationship with God BEFORE you even start dating.  The things Mr. Munroe wrote were very encouraging and helped me see dating in a different light.  I was expecting the book to just give tips on dating and praying about dating, etc. but he REALLY does a great job laying down some Biblical principles regarding relationships and EVEN spends time in one of the engagement chapters teaching about engagement stories from the Old Testament.

Get yo' lazy self up!

It's hard to admit this but...*sigh*...confession is good for the soul, right? I am a real bum sometimes and I procrastinate...A LOT.  What's the lesson in this?  Well, I'm working on it.  I've learned that laziness really prohibits me from accomplishing as much as I'd like to during the day and that laziness is VERY selfish.  For instance, when I lazily procrastinate on doing things around the house (i.e. cleaning, dishes, etc.) this adds to the amount of things I have to do later.  Why laziness is selfish:  laziness only "benefits" me.  If I sleep in or take a long nap (not because I really need the sleep but because I'm lazy), this cuts in on the 24 hours that I have to do things (especially spending time with the Lord).  Let's look at what the Scriptures say about laziness...it's pretty embarrassing when the Word discovers my condition as always.

Book Review: I Kissed Dating Goodbye

goodreads.com
Ok.  Here we go with the relationship book reviews! This book sparked a movement...from what I hear.  The title was catchy enough.  The book was published in 1997 so I have images in my mind of people in their teens and early 20s with hairdos and clothes from All That and Saved By the Bell walking around saying "no" to dating.  This book has also received a lot of bad press.  Here's what I thought of the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris.
