I hate tension

derbymanagement.com

So I HATEEEE tension.  I hate being in a conversation with one or more people in which things get a little heated and it feels like you can cut the tension in the room with a knife! I really don't like conflict either...

Funny thing is...many of the things/opportunities/parts of life we enjoy the most wouldn't exist with tension and conflict.  This is what I have to keep in mind so that I deal with tension and conflict effectively to bring about needed changes.
Think about it:  if oppressed people wouldn't have stood up for their rights and caused tension and conflict with "the powers that be" in society, those that were oppressed would not be free!  Like this quote from Dr. King:

We who in engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (scooped from finestquotes.com)

This who thing about tension started last week in a staff meeting I was in that was VERY tense since we have many things going on, many transitions happening, and thousands of people that we are accountable to.

Kinda reminds me of this race of faith.  Things can be VERYYY tense at times.  The stakes are high.  We have many things going on, many transitions, brothers and sisters in Christ that hold us accountable (or should be), and this whole world watching us...whew!  We really must be rooted and grounded in Christ, in His truth.

There will always be tension between our flesh and spirit, between the people of God and the rest of the world, between people of differing opinions...the list goes on.  No matter what, we must deal with this tension in ways that honor God.  We must daily (even moment by moment by the power of the Holy Spirit) make Christ-honoring decisions so that no matter what...He gets the glory.

Amen.
