More than the lions' den

Growing up, all I knew about Daniel was that he was smart (Daniel 1:17) and that God delivered him from the lions' den.  In this study I'm going through on prayer, I learned that not only did God deliver Daniel from the den BUT He used this to glorify Himself (as always!)!!! The king ended up honoring God  (Daniel 6)! It was such a great reminder and example to me of how our lives should give such glory and honor to God that others see that and recognize our mighty God! He is such a BOSS!!!
In Daniel chapter 6, Daniel knew that the writing had been signed for no one to petition any god or man except the king for 30 days, and he STILL prayed!  The Bible lets us know in verse 10 that he went home and prayed as usual.  And the men who'd been plotting against him "assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God."  Those rascals!

Verse 16 shows that the king knew that God would deliver Daniel.  Even though the king could not renege the degree he believed God would rescue Daniel.  This was a man who did not serve Daniel's God! Verse 20 shows that the king went back to the den the next day to see if God had delivered him.  And then the plotters got theirs....and the king sent their families down with them! Lord, have mercy!

Verses 25-27 show what Darius wrote, in honor of the LIVING God!!!

Then King Darius wrote:

To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth:

Peace be multiplied to you.

 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdommen must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.

For He is the living God,
And steadfast forever;
His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end.

He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
