A life that matters

hutchcraft.com

A life that matters...swewww...does that resonate with you?  I'm only 24 but I often think about how I want to look back on my life when I'm (let's say) 55.  I don't wanna look back and regret all the time I wasted, all the youth I wasted doing dumb things, etc.  I want my life to mean something. Especially while I don't have a husband (or any prospects in front of me) or kids or health issues or limitations.  Do I wanna be remembered for being a 20-something who spent her weekends hittin' the clubs lookin too fly for words? Or do I wanna be remembered as that chick who stayed at the throne of grace?

I've been trying to finish this book for years. I started it when I was 19 I think...then lost it...bought another one when I was about 22...and just picked it up again.  It is very convicting and reminds me that God wants to use His people to get His glorious news of salvation out and that we need HIM to do this.  Reminds me of the importance of prayer...and how much more time I need to spend praying and using my words to share the Good News.

LOVE this post!

eastsidebooksbishop.com

I've been a bookworm virtually all of my life and have noticed lately that I need to spend more time in THE Book. Check out this post from Carmen at LifeBlessons.  It's entitled, "Why I Stopped Reading Books" in order to focus on that GOOD BOOK!  The WORD!! Glory to God!  What an awesome reminder to let the Word trump all other books and read the BOOK that was written for US and inspired by HIM!

Check it here: Why I Stopped Reading Books.

Waiting and Dating Review

familychristian.com

Waiting and Dating by Myles Munroe.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This book was REALLY helpful to me.  Take a look at the chapter titles:  Preparing to Date, Friendship-Building:  The Purpose of Dating, Myths of Mate-Finding, Discerning the Right Life Partner, Engagement:  Preparing to Marry, and Engagement:  Redeeming the Time.
I wasn’t expecting the book to give so much information about working on yourself and growing in your relationship with God BEFORE you even start dating.  The things Mr. Munroe wrote were very encouraging and helped me see dating in a different light.  I was expecting the book to just give tips on dating and praying about dating, etc. but he REALLY does a great job laying down some Biblical principles regarding relationships and EVEN spends time in one of the engagement chapters teaching about engagement stories from the Old Testament.

Book Review: I Kissed Dating Goodbye

goodreads.com
Ok.  Here we go with the relationship book reviews! This book sparked a movement...from what I hear.  The title was catchy enough.  The book was published in 1997 so I have images in my mind of people in their teens and early 20s with hairdos and clothes from All That and Saved By the Bell walking around saying "no" to dating.  This book has also received a lot of bad press.  Here's what I thought of the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris.

A trip to the L.L.O.K.

ilikeiwishiheart.blogspot.com

The L.L.O.K. affectionately named for my local locus of knowledge...aka the library.  I LOVE LIBRARIES.  Period.  If my local library had a love seat in the middle of the stacks, I'd really be IN LOVE. All started when I was 4 years old and my mom saw a little girl of age 3 in the library reading a book.  My mom was determined to teach me how to read before I began kindergarten and took me to the library often to obtain new books.  And the rest...is history. ha-ha-ha.  But really, I LOVE books and magazines.  Not such a fan of periodicals or news sites but I do like to read things that catch my interest (like most people. lol).  Lately I've been on a relationship tip and have been reading multiple books by Christian authors about dating and marriage so that my relationship(s??) and possibly future marriage (Lord willing!) will be God-glorifying.  And I wanna take some time to work through some things in my own life and heart before I begin sharing my life with a man.  Take a look at my bookshelf.
