A life that matters

hutchcraft.com

A life that matters...swewww...does that resonate with you?  I'm only 24 but I often think about how I want to look back on my life when I'm (let's say) 55.  I don't wanna look back and regret all the time I wasted, all the youth I wasted doing dumb things, etc.  I want my life to mean something. Especially while I don't have a husband (or any prospects in front of me) or kids or health issues or limitations.  Do I wanna be remembered for being a 20-something who spent her weekends hittin' the clubs lookin too fly for words? Or do I wanna be remembered as that chick who stayed at the throne of grace?

I've been trying to finish this book for years. I started it when I was 19 I think...then lost it...bought another one when I was about 22...and just picked it up again.  It is very convicting and reminds me that God wants to use His people to get His glorious news of salvation out and that we need HIM to do this.  Reminds me of the importance of prayer...and how much more time I need to spend praying and using my words to share the Good News.

Are you gonna say something?!

Ok, so here's a real moment:  where will my Jewish family spend eternity?

*Pause*

There aren't Messianic Jews...so they don't believe in Jesus at all.  In fact, they are just more culturally Jewish than anything.  They are great people.  Morally good.  Examples:  they just gave away a CAR last month...I'M living with them for free...they stand up against injustice.  I could go on.

But they don't believe in my Jesus.

Where does that leave them?

When they stand before God...how will that go?

The Bible tells us how that will go...for people who don't know Jesus...

There are so many questions that are running through my mind in regards to this...but they all boil down to one question:  Will I share the Gospel with them?

At least then, I'll have done my part (in addition to praying for the Lord to save them of course), but will I do it?

Please pray for them...and for me...that I will...

Been so long...

Hello there, people!  OH my GOODNESS.  It's been so long since my last post.  I really didn't feel like I had anything meaningful to post during my "hiatus." Ha-ha-ha.  But now...I'MMMM BACKKKKK.  At least for today.

You ever felt like that in regards to your time with the Lord though?  Like..."it's been SOO long."  So long since I've rested in Your presence.  So long since I've delighted myself in Your Word.  So long since I've shared that News I call Good with another.  So long since I've really PRAYED for those in authority...for my neigbor...for my brothers and sisters in Christ.  Ok.  This is embarrassing.  But true at times.

You ever felt like that?  Be honest?  Your connotation of "SO LONG" could only be a day...or maybe it's a few days...or weeks...

Either way...let's repent and GET IT IN WITH HIM!

Peace. Love. And Joy...only obtained by abiding in Jesus, allowing God to prune ya, and letting God produce that fruit....AYYYYYYYYYY Glory. Mmmhmmmmmm.

Til next time,
U.M.

Simple Evangelism

Well hello there.  Imagine this - you're sent to a foreign land (by God of course.  Don't go without His stamp of approval!), you've been fasting, praying, fasting AND praying, sharing the Gospel with the local people you meet, God saves some of them, He sends laborers, you all pray and fast more, you and the laborers share the Gospel with more people, God saves more...the more you depend on Him the greater the work He does using you in the foreign land.  People are accepting Christ, gettin' delivered and set free from bondage, people are bein' healed (inside and out)...God is doin' the work! Not you! Ah, isn't that refreshing?

Now before you go runnin' the aisles in your local church over this, think about it...have you even shared the Gospel with people you know?  Or people in your community?  Hmm...now, the LORD GOD HIMSELF can use you in some (if not all - I ain' tryin' to limit Him!) those same ways described above if you will depend on Him (all that prayin' and fastin' mentioned above).  As an urban missionary, it's easy to get stuck in a comfort zone and be satisfied with what it looks like God is already doing. Or even to think that He's not doing very much.  But oh, there are always WAYS to be stretched!  He is always ready and willing to do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20).  BLESSED BE HE! Will you join me on this journey?  To be stretched by the Lord as He uses us to share His GLORIOUS Gospel.  To be honest, He doesn't have to use us.  But isn't it a privilege to serve Him in this way?  It's the least we could do (1 Corinthians 5:20).  Ponder that...

Til next time,
U.M.
