Update on my struggles: Part 4

amybayliss.com

Reading the Word. So a whileeee ago, I wrote about struggling to read the Word. Then I got better at it, but didn't give an update! I was doing pretty well I thought until recently. Days would go by when I wouldn't pick up my Bible at all. It was beginning to show in my thought life. I found myself having to work extra hard to keep from snapping at someone but in my head I would be tearing them up!

Finally, I grabbed a hold of myself and made myself pick up my Bible! I have missed a day here and there, but I am definitely not where I was. I used to read my Bible everyday and I have found myself missing the Lord. I'll keep working to get back to where I was and to excel that so that I can please the Lord.

Read yo' Bible!

Update on my struggles: Part 4

msny.org
"Wow" is an understatement. I have really been out of the loop and I've missed blogging! It's such a great outlet!

I decided to pick up where I left off *cough* two years ago *cough*. Remember that guy I wrote about that I wasn't sure what was gonna happen with? Well, after both of us spent many days in prayer, the Lord told us that we couldn't be together. It was really painful, but we made it through and were committed to being friends until he started to date the woman that he believed would be his wife.

Had we not spent so much time in prayer, we might not have made a wise decision. We wanted to get married, but before we even started dating, we took this matter to the Lord and boy did He answer! And God even used that man to challenge me in my "prayer life". I'll probably never forget how offended I was when he challenged me on this, but I was sure that the Lord was speaking through him because I had sensed that God was pressing me to pray more. To give my cares, worries, and desires to Him. To pray like the persistent widow in Luke 18 and watch him work.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have finally just started to do this in the last year. Let's watch God work!

Updates on my struggles: Part 2

Scooped from: Paleo
Laziness in the morning...this happens to many of us. We have the best intentions of getting up when our alarms go off.

Unfortunately, I don't have a real update on my morning routine. I've been getting to work on time more often but hit that snooze button basically every day.

However, I'm not as lazy as I was last year around this time. I've figured out how to get more things done during the days (especially on the weekends) so that I have a social life and a work life. I've been doing better at getting dishes done.

Still have to improve on getting my laundry folded and put away after it's done.
Trying to get back on track with consistently reading my Bible in the mornings so that I START my days off right!

Update on showing love

So, ya might be curious on how "30 Days of Late Summer Love" went. It was a wild success but I was able to send some love via the United States Postal Service, hand-written notes, food, and little gifts.

It was great to really be intentional about letting the people in my life know that I care about them. I didn't do as much as I wanted, but I was able to make a small impact.

My goal is not to let the "project" end, but to really show the love of God that has been extended to me! In that regard, there is a LOTTA love to give! Praise the Lord!

Stay tuned for how I did with laziness....

Update on my struggles

If you remember from my post quite a while ago about my current struggles, you'll remember that I had some areas of my life that needed WORK. The next several posts will provide updates on those. Let's kick it off with the area I've grown the most in....drum roll please....

WORK:

Would you believe that the area I've grown the most in is work?? The next updates won't be in any particular order. I've been working on all of these off and on since the February post.

I now feel more settled with my job now that I've been there for over a year. People know my face and relationships of trust have been built. It's pretty exciting to be able to be part of an organization that is really changing the community in which I live for the better. The picture above illustrates how I feel some days with my laptop on one side and the phone to my ear trying to get in touch with someone or remind organizational leaders about an upcoming event. I haven't felt as overwhelmed or

This job, more than any other I've had in my life, has had me at the THRONE OF GRACE because I have been in need of MUCH help and had many TIMES OF NEED. I give the glory to the One to whom it is due - Psalm 54:4 -> "Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life." Amen.

Struggles

Preview
feeling like this...

So this post is 'bout to get REAL. I've been on the Struggle Bus, and I need to get OFF!

Struggles as of late: being lazy about getting out of bed and having to rush to the first appointment of the day, lies (when I get it in a tight spot and want to make myself look good or just not telling the whole story...), not praying enough, and not reading the Word enough and feeling it (literally). I mentally feel weak when I don't spend enough time in the Word and would rather spend time reading other people's blogs, or a magazine, or something else...anything but the Word.  Being overwhelmed by my job and strugglin' to find my joy in Christ...really ain' even fighting for my joy...read on for more detail.

Pray my strength.

The struggle is REAL

thebeautifulstruggle.tumblr.com
So my walk with the Lord has been a bit...hmm...how should I describe it...well, rough.  This past month, I have been on an emotional roller coaster struggling with a new job and all sorts of crazy newness.  When life picked up, I didn't work hard to make sure I spent daily time with the Lord...I just worked hard at my job...and complained a lot to Tina (my old housemate...praise God for her!).  She endured my groaning (as did other people when they asked about my job...thanks guys...) but also helped me to see that this job is everything I want(ed).  Funny how sometimes we can't see the sun for the clouds, right?
