Wanting to give up
My current job is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.
There are so many people who are hurting and need our help. Many times, "those people" are ourselves. When you are fighting for things to change so that people are no longer treated as "throwaways" the dominant culture doesn't usually change and do the right thing overnight.
I have wanted to give up so many times. Part of me doesn’t understand why I just haven’t quit. Another part of me knows that I have stubborn, dogged, determination. I don’t want my stubbornness to drag my organization down though.
I’m so stressed and tired and want to just give up and let "Pharaoh" win. I can better understand why the Israelites groaned and complained and figured it would have been easier to stay slaves in Egypt – at least they knew what to expect being a slave. They knew the ups and downs and what it would take to get by. Going through the wilderness to get to a land that’s promised to you is hard when you can’t see past the day-to-day.
Oh, but when I look beyond my current circumstances, I can see the land that flows with milk and honey! When I can believe without a shadow of a doubt that the same God who brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand will bring us into the promised land no matter what the naysayers are saying, have said, keep saying…when I can look to the hills from where my help comes from, when I can hold to God’s unchanging hand and His promises and when I know that I know that I KNOW that He’s gonna work it out no matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like...then and only then will I be able to lead the people there!!!!

A thought

“Our times are in God's hands; it is well they are so. Believers are not to expect great wealth, long life, or to be free from trials. But all will be ordered for the best. And remark from Job's history, that steadiness of mind and heart under trial, is one of the highest attainments of faith. There is little exercise for faith when all things go well. But if God raises a storm, permits the enemy to send wave after wave, and seemingly stands aloof from our prayers, then, still to hang on and trust God, when we cannot trace him, this is the patience of the saints. Blessed Saviour! how sweet it is to look unto thee, the Author and Finisher of faith, in such moments!" -Matthew Henry.

Just a thought...

"For God..." the Creator of the universe, the Perfect One, the One with the power to create AND destroy, to give and to take away...
"so loved the world..." wait a minute, what? Why would He love us? We're so terrible! We willingly go against Him and His Word. Treat others badly. Don't spend time with Him. Don't live our lives in a way that always points people to Him. Say bad words. Lie. Steal. Are full of pride. Get angry quickly and fly off the handle. Are selfish...and self-centered...Sleep around. Look at dirty things. Think dirty thoughts. Think evil thoughts. Talk about people. Harm ourselves. Are lazy. Eat too much. Get drunk. Ok ok. We do A LOT of bad. Need I say more? And sometimes we live for Him...but we're real' wishy-washy...
"that He GAVE..." so the same One who was and is and will always be perfect gave the HORRIBLE people something? The same people that CHOSE to disobey Him and continue to choose to do so? Yep. He gave us...
"His only begotten Son"...so God supernaturally impregnates a woman for the purpose of saving the world....WOW...what a plan!...Ok...so let it be known in history that God, the Creator, had a Child named Jesus by a virgin named Mary...
"that whosoever believes in Him"...so anybody can believe in Christ? Well, yeah, but James said "even the demons believe" in God "and tremble" (James 2:19). So, you should have some works, some actions, showing that you have faith (James 2:17). You better be REALLY believing in Him and I mean, putting your TRUST (or faith!) in Him! Believing that He is who He said He was and that God brought Him from the dead!!...
"should not perish..." Whoever believes - that REAL belief - in Jesus will physically die but you won't be separated from God because you're in hell after you die...now THAT'S PERISHING!!! Going to hell that is!...
"but have everlasting life." Thank You, God for this! Living with God in heaven where you're always with Him..FOREVER!!!! With no hard times! No sickness! No disease! No having to get up early and go to work! No bills! No heartache! No suffering! No struggling! Not even any TEARS!!! Now THAT'S LIFE! And you get to live forever! With God!
AAAAAMEN.

Leaving a legacy
I think a lot about my life and the type of impact I want to have. I think about how I want to remembered, and the lives I want to touch. I consider the consequences of my actions before I act (sometimes...) and other times I consider those consequences after I've acted (fail...). There's a problem with all this thinking about my life...it's really not about me at all. IT'S ABOUT HIM.
