I read part of a book entitled, A Life that Matters by Ron Hutchcraft. It's a great book on evangelism. With all the thoughts running through my head on the lives of Black men murdered by police and the lives of police officers lost due to retaliation on this thing...my heart hurts. I'm definitely on the side of #BlackLivesMatter. We have to pray, and we have to act. God has given us all that we need to do both. We have to hold our leaders accountable to changing the systemic injustice within the police culture. We have to pray for God to change attitudes, hearts, and minds. We also must communicate and work towards bringing people together.

Labor pains
![]() |
bucknell.edu |
Look at these adorable loves!!! So a cousin of mine recently had a baby...WHEWWWWOWZA! She got to the point where she said that she was going to the hospital and not leaving without a baby. I thought about the pain that she..and every woman since Eve have gone through for child birth. Going through labor so that one (a baby; a new little life) might live reminds me of Jesus' sacrifice for us. Both are/were painful, but both result(ed) in a beautiful new life. Ours results in being new creations and inheriting eternal life. And oh, so much more! Praise the LORD!!!!!!!!

Let it Snow!
![]() |
merrydotdandy.com |
With forecasts of snow all over the Mid-west heading East, I just wanted to get home. While I LOVE just looking outta the window watching snow fall and cover the Earth...I just wanted to get home for Christmas to be with my family, and the snow was holdin' me up, man!
Snow is so beautiful...
Ssssyyyykkkkkkkkkeeeeeee. Snow is overrated. Ha-ha-ha. While beautiful, it tends to slow my pace. Looking at it from another angle...snow helps me realize that I am not in control, that things and events in life are just "things," and reminds me of the majesty of God. I mean, look at that photo!
Job 37:6 "He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'"

Gravity...earth to Ugena...earth to Ugena

Sitting on planes, I often look out of the window and am amazed by what I see. The perspective of being up so high and seeing "it all" and then knowing that soon I will back on the ground, amongst the people. Being at such an altitude reminds me that there is much more to life than what I see around me every day. Reminds me that there is a whole world out there and so many opportunities and possibilities. Being up so high always seems to bring the gravity of this thing we can humanity or mortality home in my mind.

Change is good...well...
Bonjour! Er...hello there! I had the International Passport crepes from IHOP tonight so I'm still a lil' Frenchy. A connection to the last post about fathers: I was just looking at an article about a documentary that follows young women who grew up without their biological fathers. I'd really like to see it now. Check out the link to the article from Essence.com Daddy Issues.
On to today's topic...change...
Til next time,

On to today's topic...change...
No, not that type of change! Not like a makeover but REAL genuine change. The backdrop to this post: a friend of mine is in a serious relationship and I'm concerned about how this will affect our friendship. I'm a die-hard friend (I admit) so change for me is not always...hmmmm....not always embraced. L-O-L. BUT, change can be fantastic! Think of all the great things I'll be able to do if they get married (YES, the things that I [!!!] will be able to do when THEY marry). 1) I'll be able to attend an awesome wedding (I'm a sucka fo' da' cake)...2) Maybe I'll become a godmother!...3) I'll have a new place to visit...4) Maybe I'll gain a new friend in the person of their spouse...and another person to share the GOSPEL with! If the Lord saves HER (the potential spouse), then maybe He will use her to be an influence for Him to affect the husband (AY GLORY!)...umm....see 1 Corinthians 7:13-16.
Now I know changes can take many forms...maybe I'll talk about those over a period of time. Today I wish to talk about a change of perspective. When one's perspective changes in a positive way...THINGS CAN SEEM SOOOO much betta! To borrow an example from Katt Williams (no endorsement intended)...if you're stressed out about a light bill, think about how you can finally burn those 12 candles you got in the drawer. Don't STRESS! Just burn the candles til you can pay it! Or go to a community assistance center where they can pay the bill for you! Don't make that thing a habit doe!
Gospel point: When the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to see your sin and to view it the way God sees it...SWEWWWW...You'll be like Brutha Dave, the writer of the majority of the Psalms - repenting with a contrite spirit! (I HOPE.) And this can drive you to spend more time in prayer, more time in the Word, more time with the Lord and spend more time sharing dat News you call Good with others cuz you know what DEPRAVITY is.
Til next time,
U.M.
